Frank Murri

This is the post excerpt.

Frank Murri is a Newcastle (Australia) based artist.

The nature of my art practice consists of wall-hung, timber relief sculptural works. These pieces are formed to incorporate mathematical formulas, theorems & sequences; abstracted musical score sheets; & abstracted transcribed literary pieces. It is an art form which I have developed, and which I hope one sees as a unique creation.

The works advocate pure abstraction in an attempt to synthesize a design aesthetic.

In relation to the mathematical pieces, if one looks into the realm of pure mathematics, there lies within a beauty which transcends its usual form.

There is a quote from Bertrand Russell which encapsulates my ethos:

“Mathematics, rightly viewed, possesses not only truth, but                                 supreme beauty — a beauty cold and austere, like that of                                   sculpture.”

The pieces I create are formulated to capture this beauty.
